Addressing the Legal Side of Cyber Risk

In today’s threat environment, government suppliers are expected to meet increasingly complex cybersecurity obligations—often without the legal frameworks or expertise to match. Recognising this urgent gap, AQMN has launched a dedicated Cyber-Legal Risk Advisory service, tailored to suppliers operating in Defence and government-aligned sectors.

This new service bridges the legal, operational, and compliance demands that come with securing sensitive systems, managing classified information, and maintaining public trust.

“Cybersecurity is not just a technical risk—it’s a legal risk,” said Emma Jovic, Co-Founder at AQMN. “Suppliers in the Defence and federal space are expected to meet high standards of accountability, not just for performance, but for how they manage, protect, and report on digital infrastructure.”

Why This Matters for Government-Aligned Suppliers

The release of the 2024 DISP Modernisation Roadmap and reforms to the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act (SOCI) have placed even more legal scrutiny on the conduct of third-party providers. AQMN’s new advisory aims to reduce exposure by ensuring legal obligations are clearly understood, contractually integrated, and operationally manageable.

Organisations that fail to align with these frameworks risk:

  • Breach of contract penalties or disqualification in tenders
  • Non-compliance with DISP or SOCI requirements
  • Reputational damage from data breach fallout
  • Regulatory action under privacy, information security, or public law provisions
